Midwest Home Health Company Boosts Productivity with Android Tablets
Case Study
Digital transformation improves efficiency and patient services
The Challenge
A leading healthcare provider in Ohio and West Virginia with a focus on home care, senior living, nursing, rehabilitation, and hospice services wanted to move its clinicians off paper documents and onto LTE-enabled mobile devices.
The company was missing out on the advantages of mobile technology for home healthcare, including:
- Smart scheduling with mapping to efficiently move resources
- Data sharing, including secure EHR access in the field, connectivity with other internal software platforms, and access to treatment information to improve patient care
- Analytics to review clinical, operational, and performance data for opportunities to improve the business
Not only had the company not used tablets before, but the internal IT team had never needed to support remote users.
The Ask
The company needed a Managed Mobile Services partner to procure, configure, and send mobile devices to the homes of each clinician, support them through the transition, provide continuous call center support, and manage device lifecycle services.
Additionally, the partner had to have experience in the healthcare environment and its unique security and compliance requirements.
The company also wanted a mobile solutions provider with an established relationship with the Android OEM and one that could offer real-time visibility of all its mobile assets and their repair status.
The Solution
The Solution Design team at Stratix created an end-to-end mobile technology blueprint for the company that included finding the right devices for the home healthcare environment and kitting them with rugged cases to protect them from damage.
The tablets were configured at our Atlanta Mobile Integration Center and delivered out-of-the-box ready. The highly-trained technicians in our Mobile Operations Center were standing by to answer any questions or solve any technical challenges, so the home healthcare clinicians could hit the ground running with their new devices straight away.
The solution includes spare pool management and rapid repair turnaround for any device issues that can’t be solved with a phone call.
With itrac360, Stratix provides a single, configurable dashboard for the company’s mobile ecosystem with a real-time view of every device’s location.
The Result
Partnering with Stratix on the mobile device program for home healthcare clinicians made supporting clinicians in the field for the first time simple. It not only reduced their burden, but costs are predictable and within budget.
Moving from old paper records to electronic devices improved the efficiency and productivity of the home healthcare team. They’re able to use smart scheduling for better time and patient management. Data connectivity allows them to complete record-keeping faster and more accurately.
Having 24/7 help desk support has solved most technical challenges and kept returns for repair to just a handful in the first year.
Overall, it’s a better end-user experience for the clinician that empowers them to provide the best possible patient care.
